September 25th

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • You can now sign up for a time for the October 14 and 16 Parent/Teacher Conferences. See the green handout in your fifth grader’s Take Home Folder to read how to sign up. Please only sign up for a conference for your child’s homeroom teacher.

Brazier - Switch 1: Lab. Practice Test/Study Guide.
* STRAND 1 TEST ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 (to prepare: study CFP, CFP re-takes, and the practice tests)

Martinez - Switch 1: Introduction of adding and subtracting decimals using grids.
HOMEWORK: FINISH PURPLE PACKET.  DUE MONDAY.

Martinez - Switch 2: Practicing rounding, ordering, expanded notation and word form of decimals.

*ASK: What vocabulary words/phrases do you need to use to accurately describe the Earth’s rotation and revolution?
HOMEWORK: STUDY SCIENCE NOTES AND VOCABULARY FOR TEST 1 MONDAY!!

Kornas: “Readers analyze themselves as readers.”

Martinez: “Readers notice the actions of a character to make inferences.”

WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber: “Writers write about important moments.”

Brazier: “Writers play “T.A.G.”
* ASK: “So, what, you were chasing each other around the school during writing time? What is T.A.G. and how did it help you today?”

Kornas:  “Writers plan for their story by creating a timeline.”

Martinez: “ Writers borrow ideas from other writers.”
