Brazier - Switch 1: Problem Solving Strategy: Using Venn Diagrams
*HOMEWORK OPTION: STAPLE TEST-CORRECTIONS TO THE FRONT OF YOUR STRAND 1 TEST. BE THOROUGH IN YOUR EXPLANATIONS.

Brazier - Switch 2: Adding and Subtracting Decimals Using Grids. Student Guide pages 244-246.
*CFP #3 TOMORROW (to prepare: complete “Practice for CFP 3”)
*STRAND 1 TEST ON FRIDAY

Martinez - Switch 1: Adding and Subtracting Decimals Using Grids.  Practicing estimation.
*CFP #3 TOMORROW (to prepare: Review “Practice for CFP 3” and the adding and subtracting purple packet)
*STRAND 1 TEST ON FRIDAY (to prepare: Review all previous CFP’s and the pre-test that was handed back today.

Kornas - Switch 1: Began Social Studies Chapter 1.
ASK: Can you name the four hemispheres? (Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western) What divides the hemispheres? (Equator, Prime Meridian)
HOMEWORK: CHAPTER 1 VOCABULARY WORDS (There are 9 words total.)

Brazier: Improving the quality of our responses-to-reading. Formal reading assessments begin. Strategy groups in fluency and inference-making continue.

Kornas: “Readers share what they are reading with partners.”

Martinez: “Readers write about their reading.” Formal reading assessments began today.

WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber: Personal Narrative On Demand piece
*HOMEWORK: PUBLISHED PIECE DUE FRIDAY.

Brazier: Revision Strategy #2: Writers “act out” their writing in order to capture true and exact details.
* ASK: “What did Fletcher do during writing time that had the class in stitches? How does it relate to improving your writing?”

Kornas:  “Writers edit and revise to prepare for publishing.”

Martinez: Personal Narrative On Demand (pre-assessment for our upcoming Personal Narrative unit)
* HOMEWORK: READ THROUGH ALL ENTRIES IN WRITER’S NOTEBOOK.  CHOOSE ONE ENTRY TO PUBLISH.  MAKE YOUR DECISION FOR TOMORROW’S CLASS.  YOU MAY ALSO CHOOSE TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS AT HOME BEFORE WE START THE EDITING & REVISION PROCESS.
