SPELLING

Barber: Review the first 10 words from the “Frequently Misspelled words” list.
* TEST ON THURSDAY ON THE FIRST 10 WORDS. OFFICIAL CLASSROOM SPELLING BEE ON DECEMBER 16. TO PREPARE FOR THE LATTER, STUDY THE ORANGE LIST OF WORDS HANDED OUT IN CLASS.

Brazier:
* PERSONALIZED SPELLING TEST ON FRIDAY

Kornas:  Personalized Spelling Test TOMORROW
*CLASS SPELLING BEE WILL TAKE PLACE ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 15TH.  

Martinez:
*PERSONALIZED SPELLING TEST ON FRIDAY.  LISTS 2 AND 5.
*CONTINUE STUDYING TO PREPARE FOR THE FIFTH GRADE SPELLING BEE.  

MATH

Brazier - Switch 1: Fraction Equations.  Strand 3 DPP due on 12/08.

Barber Switch 1 and 2: Go over INB pages 22 & 23. Begin Further Reading section.

Kornas Switch 1 and 2: Review INB pages 22-23.  Discuss Chapter 4.

STUDENTS WILL NEED SS TEXTBOOK TO COMPLETE THEIR HOMEWORK.

READING WORKSHOP

Barber:. “Readers notice repeated themes.”

Brazier: “Readers collect ‘key quotes.’”
* ASK: “What is a ‘key quote’ from The Great Gilly Hopkins? Why is it significant?”

Kornas:  Independent Reading

Martinez: “Readers pay attention to character’s struggles/challenges and how they lead up to a turning point.”

WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber: “Checklists help writers with revisions.” Begin focusing on development part.  

Brazier: “Checklists help writers remember what they’ve learned (and they also serve to  remind writers of what they’re aiming toward).”
* ASK: “Has the checklist prompted you to make a new writing goal? Tell me about it in detail. How will you go about meeting your new goal?”

Kornas: TYMK

Martinez: “Writers organize their writing by using paragraphs.”
