SPELLING

Barber: Review the first 10 words from the “Frequently Misspelled words” list.
* OFFICIAL CLASSROOM SPELLING BEE ON DECEMBER 16. TO PREPARE, STUDY THE ORANGE LIST OF WORDS HANDED OUT IN CLASS.

Brazier:
* PERSONALIZED SPELLING TEST TOMORROW

Kornas:  
*CLASS SPELLING BEE WILL TAKE PLACE ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 15TH.  

Martinez:
*PERSONALIZED SPELLING TEST TOMORROW.  LISTS 2 AND 5.
*CONTINUE STUDYING TO PREPARE FOR THE FIFTH GRADE SPELLING BEE.

Brazier - Switch 1: Fraction Equations. Converting mixed numbers into improper fractions, and vice versa.  Strand 3 DPP due on 12/12.

READING WORKSHOP

Barber:. “Readers zoom in on characters motivation and obstacles.”

Brazier: “Readers collect ‘key quotes.’”
* ASK: “What is a ‘key quote’ from your independent reading selection? Why is it significant?”

Kornas:  “Readers use prompts to push their thinking to support a theory.”

Martinez: “Readers think about the author’s message.”

WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber: Computer lab type time.  Students will need this copy typed by Monday so they can continue making changes.

Brazier: “Checklists help writers remember what they’ve learned (and they also serve to  remind writers of what they’re aiming toward).”
* ASK: “Has the checklist prompted you to make a new writing goal? Tell me about it in detail. How will you go about meeting your new goal?”

Kornas: Miss. Kowalczyk’s celebration.

Martinez: “Writers use commas to help their readers.”
