ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • In place of traditional parties, all grade five classrooms will kick back with pizza and a movie on February 13. Students may still bring in candy and participate in our Valentine’s Day box contest.

Kornas: Wrap up Activity 6: Lung Function. New vocabulary words. Reviewed Muscular and Respiratory System.
HOMEWORK: REVIEW ALL VOCABULARY WORDS and NEW CONCEPTS REGARDING MUSCULAR AND RESPIRATORY SYSTEMS.

READING WORKSHOP
Barber: “Readers give books a chance.” Book club groups choose their book.
*ASK:” What book is your group reading?  Did you learn anything new about one of your members? ”

Brazier: “Readers pay attention to details about the setting - the way a place looks and feels - its emotional atmosphere.”
*ASK: “Tell me about the “emotional atmosphere” of the first few pages of Number the Stars.”

Kornas: Book Club pennant and constitution.
*ASK: What is the most important guideline included in your Book Club Constitution? Why do you consider it to be the most important?

Martinez: Book Club interviews and pennant.

WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber:  Poetry Jam quick practice.  
* OUR POETRY JAM WILL TAKE PLACE ON FRIDAY FROM 11:30-12:40.

Brazier: No formal writing workshop today. “Is cursive writing still important?”

Kornas: Writing creatively - free write.

Martinez: “Poets pay attention to line breaks.”
