Thursday January 16th


MATH
Barber- 4.2 review shorthand division.  Introduce division using area model.  HOMEWORK: 5 DIVISION PROBLEMS. STUDENTS MUST ATTEMPT TO DO THESE INDEPENDENTLY USING THE SHORTHAND METHOD.

Brazier- Check For Retention (CFR). Computer lab visit.  

Kornas - Division using Area Models. No H.W. tonight - we ran out of time.

HOMEWORK: TAKE HOME YOUR JUST-RIGHT CHARACTER STUDY TEXT AS WELL AS YOUR READING NOTEBOOK. READ THROUGH THE LENS OF CHARACTER ACTIONS. WRITE DOWN 3+ ACTIONS THAT YOUR CHARACTER DOES. RECORD HOW THOSE ACTIONS SEEM TO FIT WITH OTHER ACTIONS YOU’VE ALREADY NOTICED.

WRITING WORKSHOPS

BARBER: Revising personal narratives.  Drafting endings using the rubric for guidance.  Final draft due Tuesday, January 21st.

BRAZIER: Today, we focused on the importance of strong endings in narrative writing. We talked, among other things, about how it important it is that a character’s ultimate realization comes from what happened in the narrative.

KORNAS: Finish reading The Great Gilly Hopkin’s
