Barber- Reviewed last night’s homework and answered questions. Began 4.2: Modeling division using manipulatives (known as flats, skinnies and bits).
Brazier- We shared more strategies for solving 2X2 multiplication problems without the aid of paper. Ask your child: What is 39 * 11? We applied our understanding of the order of operations rule (PEMDAS) with a fun and challenging game entitled “24:” Ask about it! Finally, we prepared for tomorrow’s CFP.

WRITING WORKSHOPS
BARBER: Revising personal narratives, begin looking at leads on rubric. Students may need to finish drafting new leads at home for homework. Tuesday we will look at transitions.
BRAZIER: A mini unit on revising personal narratives continued today. We studied the “rubric” that outlines what it takes to write a narrative at the fifth grade level.
KORNAS: Notebook entry for independent reading, Geo Bee, and in-class spelling bee
