Wednesday January 15th

MATH
Barber- 4.2 continue modeling division using math pieces.  Writing in ‘shorthand’ to practice without math pieces.  HW 2 MATH PROBLEMS TO WRITE IN SHORTHAND, DUE THURSDAY!

Brazier- Strand 4 test

Kornas - H.W.-DO BOTH PROBLEMS ON THE LINED PAPER.  REFER TO THE PROBLEMS THAT WE DID IN CLASS TODAY TO KNOW WHAT TO INCLUDE ON YOUR HOMEWORK PROBLEMS.  Parents, please don’t teach your son/daughter the shortcut to solving division problems...that comes later.  They need to use the method I am teaching in class so that they are able to understand and explain the division process.

Reading: (Teacher - Mr. Brazier): “Readers collect ‘data’ about the characters they’re studying. Later, they analyze the data, looking for patterns.”
HOMEWORK: TAKE HOME YOUR JUST-RIGHT CHARACTER STUDY TEXT AS WELL AS YOUR READING NOTEBOOK. READ FOR ~15 MINUTES. READ THROUGH THE LENS OF CHARACTER ACTIONS. WRITE DOWN 3+ ACTIONS THAT YOUR CHARACTER DOES. CONSIDER HOW THOSE ACTIONS MIGHT FIT WITH OTHER ACTIONS YOU’VE ALREADY NOTICED.

Word Masters: (Teacher - Mrs. Kornas): More W.M. presentations. REVIEW W.M. WORD PACKET to BECOME FAMILIAR WITH ALL THE WORDS.  REHEARSE, REHEARSE, REHEARSE THE PRESENTATION FOR YOUR POSTER IF YOU HAVE NOT PRESENTED YET.

WRITING WORKSHOPS

BARBER: Revising personal narratives, begin looking at leads and transition words to move our writing along.  
BRAZIER: Today, we focused on the importance of transitions in narrative writing. We worked to show the passage of time in more complicated ways (by showing things happening at the same time, for example).

KORNAS: Personal Narrative Paragraph
