SPELLING
Barber: No spelling due to short week.

Brazier: Pre-Analogy Work. Misc. “Morning Thinking” Exercises.

Brazier - Switch One: Classifications of 2-D Shapes

Brazier - Switch Two: P.E.M.D.A.S. and a comprehensive review of Strand 4
* OPTIONAL (STRONGLY ENCOURAGED) HOMEWORK: PRACTICE PACKET

READING WORKSHOP

Brazier: “Readers of historical fiction scrutinize (don’t skip!) descriptive passages. They know these parts are like the clues in a mystery text.”

Kornas:  “Readers notice flashbacks or flash forwards and when time changes.”

*HOMEWORK: FINISH YOUR INDELIBLE IMAGE ABOUT A BOOK WE’VE READ IN CLASS.  DUE TOMORROW.

WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber: “Writers write opinions about places.”
*HOMEWORK: PICK AN OBJECT AND COME UP WITH 3 REASONS TO SUPPORT YOUR THINKING (TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF, COME UP WITH EXAMPLES FOR PROOF).
Brazier: “Opinion writers develop one area of interest, knowledge, and strong belief.”
* ASK: “What is an opinion of yours that you’re thinking of advancing in the form of a persuasive essay?”

Kornas: “Writers write an essay.”

Martinez: On Demand Opinion/Argument writing.
*HOMEWORK: TO PREPARE FOR STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES, WRITE AN ENTRY ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE PROUD OF IN FIFTH GRADE.
