ANNOUNCEMENTS

SPELLING
Barber: Suffix rules: -ed & -able.  Include 5 words from last tests of prefix words.
Words: adaptable, comfortable, continued, ashamed, enjoyed

Brazier: Word Study / Pre-Analogy Lesson. We will study analogies during the third trimester.   
* PERSONALIZED SPELLING TEST (all 40 words) ON FRIDAY

Kornas:  Students created a personalized spelling list on the right-hand side of the student planner.

MATH

Brazier - Switch One: Classifications of 2-D Shapes. “Shapes Zoo.”  
* ASK: “Tell me about a way in which you and your group decided to organize your zoo. Where in the zoo did you place the isosceles trapezoid? Be precise in your explanation.”

Brazier - Switch Two: CFP #2.
  • Kudos to Morgan Seator, Izzy Hadley, Jordan Sinclair, and Payton Guerrieri for completing the entire packet of optional homework problems.

Martinez - Switch One: Division with decimals, Order of Operations, Dealing with remainders.

Barber: Chapter 7 billboard share and notes.  Further Reading.

READING WORKSHOP
Barber: “Readers notice that characters are shaped by the times they live in.”

Brazier: “Readers re-read through the lens of text evidence.”

Kornas: Independent Reading.

Martinez: “Readers step into a character’s shoes to realize they are shaped by the times in which they live.”


WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber: “Opinion writers linger on ideas that matter.”
*HOMEWORK: BEHAVIOR REFLECTION SHEET DUE THURSDAY.

Brazier: “Paragraphs tend to be about one thing.” Connecting the Claim and Support thinking routine with the conventional structure of paragraph-writing. Student-led conference preparations.

Kornas: Complete final draft of poem. Handwriting-next two pages in book.

Martinez: No time today!
HOMEWORK: WRITE YOUR BEHAVIOR PARAGRAPH FOR YOUR STUDENT-LED CONFERENCE.  DUE THURSDAY.
