ANNOUNCEMENTS

MATH

Barber: Decimals and going beyond the tenths place. Writing standard, word and expanded form.
*HOMEWORK: COMPLETE WRITING BIG NUMBERS WORKSHEET. DUE THURSDAY.

Brazier: Big Numbers in standard, word, and expanded form. Introducing decimal place value.
* ASK: “What is the value of the digit 6 in the number 3,452.6?”

Martinez: Big Numbers in standard, word, and expanded form.
*ASK: “What is the value of the 5 in 234,569,001,972?”

READING WORKSHOP

Barber: Workshop procedures.  Readers set realistic goals.

Brazier: “Readers choose books carefully.”

Martinez: “Readers make wise book choices.”
*ASK: “How did you choose the book(s) you read today?”


WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber: “Writers write family stories.”
*HOMEWORK: HAVE SOMEONE SHARE A FAMILY STORY WITH YOU TO SHARE.

Brazier: “Writers recall (and relish) family stories.”
* ASK: What does a writer try to do in the first couple of sentences?”

Martinez: “Writers get ideas from the stories in their life.”
*HOMEWORK: Students brainstorm ideas with their family about stories they could write in writing workshop tomorrow.  Check your child’s Take Home Folder for a detailed note about this homework.
