ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Picture Day is tomorrow.


MATH

Barber: CFP (Check for Progress) #1. Looking at decimals equal or less than: 0, 0.1, 0.5 and 1.

Brazier: Decimal Place Value. CFP (Check for Progress).  

Martinez: Decimal Place Value.  Expanded form with decimals.
* CFP FRIDAY (Students should be able to accurately write a 15-digit number in standard and word form.  Also, students should be able to write numbers, including decimals, in expanded form.)


READING WORKSHOP

Barber: “Readers read between the lines.”

Brazier: “Readers make inferences as they read.”
* ASK: “What does it mean to read between the lines?”

Martinez: “Readers make inferences by paying attention to details.”
*ASK: “What does it mean to make an inference?”


WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber: “Writers observe the world around them.”

Brazier: “Writers often plan before composing.”

Martinez: “Writers collect VIVID images (and write them too!)”  
*ASK: “What are you working on as a writer in Writing Workshop?”


SOCIAL STUDIES (Teacher: Mrs. Barber)

Chapter 1.4 introduction to landforms and bodies of water.  Continue notes and begin INB 1C.

EXPLORE & DESIGN (Teacher: Mr. Brazier)

* ASK: Why did the paper airplanes, on the whole, fly much farther the second time around?

Introduction of the Scientific Method.
