MATH
Barber:  Seeing 3-D rectangular arrays of cubes as congruent layers. Using multiplication to find the number of cubes in a box (rectangular prism).
* ASK:Your child about their math fact check test.  Did they make any gains? What facts do they need more work?

Martinez: Adding and subtracting fractions.
* FACT TEST TBD
* DPP due date is extended to next Friday.  Please have your child complete all of the problems they can do on their own.  If they work hard to solve a problem but can’t quite figure it out, it is okay to leave it.  This packet is simply good practice.

READING WORKSHOP
Barber: Reading Number the stars.
* ASK: Who was the death in the family? What did all the talk about fishing have to do with the story?

Brazier: “Readers linger over a book’s conclusion.”
* ASK: What images from Number the Stars are still with you?”

Martinez: “Thoughtful readers pause when they encounter passages that seem important.”

WRITING WORKSHOP
Barber: “Opinion writers use flash drafts to evaluate the reasons for their opinion.”

Brazier: “Writers consider an audience as they write.”

Martinez: “Opinion writers study the work of other opinion writers.”


SOCIAL STUDIES (Teacher: Mrs. Barber)
