ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Keep bringing in those raffle tickets for The Seuss Fair!

  • This link will lead you to practice M-STEP problems. Fifth graders will take the M-STEP in April.

MATH
Barber:  Determining how many packages of different sizes fit in a given box.  

Brazier: Reflections on Investigation I for Volume
* ASK: What are the possible dimensions of a box that would hold half as many cubes as a 2 by 3 by 8 box?
* HOMEWORK: COMPLETE “Strands 1-6 Review #2” if need be.

Martinez: Volume investigation.  Making boxes.
* DPP due date is extended to this Friday.  Please have your child complete all of the problems they can do on their own.  If they work hard to solve a problem but can’t quite figure it out, it is okay to leave it.  This packet is simply good practice.

READING WORKSHOP
Barber:Independent Reading

Brazier: “What can I jot about to raise the quality of our Book Club conversations?”

Martinez: “Readers hold onto the big ideas of the text as they read.”
* ASK:  What do you think your Book Club book is really, really about?

WRITING WORKSHOP
Barber: “Opinion writers consider the counterclaim.”

Brazier: “Opinion writers use research to strengthen their writing.”

Martinez: “Opinion writers use interviews to strengthen their writing.”  “Opinion writers craft questions that will get the response they’re looking for.”

Chapter 10 group work continues.  Students will do a gallery walk.
