ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Start bringing in those raffle tickets for The Seuss Fair!

MATH
Barber:  Seeing 3-D rectangular arrays of cubes as congruent layers. Using multiplication to find the number of cubes in a box (rectangular prism).

Brazier: Exploring the relationship between the number of cubes that fill a rectangular box before and after its dimensions are changed.
* ASK: What might the dimensions be of a box that would hold precisely twice as many cubes as a 2 by 3 by 5 box? (Answer: Any box with a volume of 60 cubic units.)

Martinez: Fraction practice sheet.  Estimating fractions.  Adding and subtracting fractions.
* DPP due date is extended to next Friday.  Please have your child complete all of the problems they can do on their own.  If they work hard to solve a problem but can’t quite figure it out, it is okay to leave it.  This packet is simply good practice.
* Strand Five CFP will be next Tuesday.  

READING WORKSHOP
Barber: “Readers experience a story through the perspective of secondary characters .”

Brazier: Raising the quality of our written responses to text

Martinez: Independent Reading.

WRITING WORKSHOP
Barber: “Opinion writers use research to strengthen their writing.”

Brazier: “Writers use transitional words and phrases [to help their imagined audience follow their thinking].”
