ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The Optimist Club will be collecting old blankets, towels, sheets, and newspapers through May 19 for the Oakland County Pet and Adoption Center.

WORD STUDY

Barber:  Introduced the word ‘trudge’.  Study the spelling of the first 10 words on the wordmasters list.  
* TEST THURSDAY.

Brazier: Pictionary!

Kornas: More WordMasters presentations today.  
* HOMEWORK: SPELLING TEST TOMORROW, WE RAN OUT OF TIME TODAY.

Martinez: Analogy practice.

Brazier: “Readers summarize as they go.”

Kornas: Independent reading and running records.

Martinez: Informational texts are structured.  Compare/Contrast is another kind of structure.

WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber:  “Writers use precise words.”

Brazier: “Informational writing links like ideas.”

Kornas: “Informational writers write with audience in mind.” Research in the computer lab.

Martinez: “Informational writers consider their audience by thinking about what they might want to know”
