May 20th

ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • We’ll be leaving for Greenfield Village at 8:50 a.m. tomorrow. We’ll return to BLE around 3:30. A note was sent home today for all of tomorrow’s chaperones. Please understand that all students must ride the bus to Greenfield Village and back to Bailey Lake.
  • No school for students on Friday. School will resume on Tuesday, May 26 following the extra long Memorial Day weekend.

WORD STUDY

Barber:  Study the spelling of the next 10 (11-20) words on the Word Masters list.  
* NEXT TUESDAY

Brazier: Analogy Practice. SWAT!

Kornas: Last two Word Master presentations.

Martinez: Analogy practice.
MATH

Brazier - Switch One: ACE Problems. “Partner Quiz.”
* HOMEWORK: FINISH ‘PARTNER QUIZ’ BY TOMORROW MORNING

Brazier - Switch Two: “The Final Four.” Review the Strands 1-7 test and also yesterday’s CFP.
* CFP RE-TAKE ON TUESDAY DURING LUNCH

Martinez - Switch One: Application of adding and subtracting fractions.
* HOMEWORK: APPLICATIONS 1A-F.  DUE WEDNESDAY MAY 27.

Martinez - Switch Two: Strand 7 Review.
* (OPTIONAL) HOMEWORK: COMPLETE/REVIEW THE “STRAND 7 - REVIEW.” OVER THE FOUR DAY WEEKEND.

SCIENCE
Barber: Study of nonfiction features that an author chooses for their text.   Please review for next week’s final quiz on Newton’s Laws of Motion

Kornas:  Gave graded quiz back.  Gave bar graphs back.
* HOMEWORK: STUDENTS THAT WANT TO GET A BETTER GRADE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO A SECOND GRAPH.  IT IS DUE TOMORROW MORNING AT 8:45.

READING WORKSHOP

Barber: Independent reading.

Brazier: Just Right Text Checkpoint, Nonfiction Edition

Kornas: Non Fiction introductions.

Martinez: Writing Workshop today.  

WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber:  “Nonfiction writing has an introduction and conclusion.  

Brazier: “Informational writing includes multiple introductions.”

Kornas:  NF introductions and chapter writing.

Martinez: Writers compose well thought out chapters.
