Wednesday February 19th

MATH

Barber- Continued work on two-digit divisor division, this time using calculators to help us with multiplication ONLY.  Student assigned problems.  They may use a calculator for multiplication homework.  456/13, 705/19, 6342/16, 3742/21, 4993/18(divided by). Weekly review for our class is due Friday February 21st!  CFP FRIDAY 2/21!

Brazier- Reducing Fractions. CFR tomorrow. CFP (on reducing fractions) on Wednesday.

Kornas- Order of Operations - H.W. - page 130 #6 A,B,C and 7-21 odd numbered problems only.  (I will send notes and example problems via e-mail to refer to if needed.)

Reading: (Teacher - Mr. Brazier): Talking “long and strong” from a jot.
HOMEWORK: AFTER A ‘JUST RIGHT’ AMOUNT OF AT-HOME READING, JOT DOWN SOMETHING THAT REMAINS WITH YOU FROM YOUR READING (see the sample jot at the top of today’s new log for a first-rate example of a “jot”). THEN, READ YOUR JOT TO SOMEONE AT HOME AND TALK/CONVERSE FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN ABOUT WHAT YOU WROTE.

Science: (Teacher - Mrs. Kornas):   STUDY FOR THE TEST ON FRIDAY (CIRCULATORY, SKELETAL, MUSCULAR SYSTEMS.  STUDENTS HAVE A BLUE STUDY GUIDE THAT WE HIGHLIGHTED TOGETHER TODAY IN CLASS.  THEY SHOULD ALSO STUDY THE DIAGRAM OF THE HEART (ACTIVITY 4).Textbooks are available for students check out.

Spelling: (Teacher - Mrs. Barber): Spelling tests have been handed back to students.

Social Studies: (Teacher - Mrs. Barber):  Section 6.2, took notes and vocabulary.

WRITING WORKSHOPS

BARBER: Essayists use research to help prove their reasons. Sources and quotes from authors.  

BRAZIER: “Essayists employ parallel structure.”
ASK: “WHAT DOES “PARALLEL” MEAN? WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH ESSAY WRITING?”

KORNAS:  Highlight intro. paragraph of persuasive essay in writing workshop trio.  

made a list of persuasive words to use in persuasive writing.
