Wednesday February 5th

MATH

Barber- Completed CFP 4-2 today.

Brazier- Following the CFP, we compared fractions using symbols and pictures. In doing so,  we found common denominators. This work precedes adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. Strand 5 DPP due tomorrow.  

Kornas- CFP TOMORROW OVER TRADITIONAL LONG DIVISION. H.W. - DO AT LEAST FIVE PRACTICE DIVISION PROBLEMS (ESTIMATE USING FRIENDLY NUMBERS, SOLVE USING TRADITIONAL DIVISION AND THEN CHECK).  WORD PROBLEMS PAGE 117 IN BOOK #13, 14 AND 15.

Reading: (Teacher - Mr. Brazier): Stamina Week: Independent Reading + Misc. Reading Assessments

HOMEWORK: READ “LESSONS IN BASEBALL.” ANSWER QUESTIONS 9-16 (on blue paper) and 17-21 (on green paper). DUE TOMORROW.



Science: (Teacher - Mrs. Kornas): Circulatory System - Read textbook and heart diagram.
Parents, students will be introduced to many new vocabulary words and concepts in this unit.  I HIGHLY recommend that students REVIEW newly learned content at home each day.  This will help students prepare for assessments as they go, rather than waiting to study the night before.

Spelling: (Teacher - Mrs. Barber): Students are responsible for reviewing spelling of the Word Masters words 1-15!

Social Studies: (Teacher - Mrs. Barber): Presentations began today. We will continue tomorrow to finish the remaining presentations.

WRITING WORKSHOPS

BARBER: Persuasive Essay - Day 8: Talk, Talk, Talk: Writers write a lot about their topic.

BRAZIER: “Essayists include evidence.”
ASK: “WHAT IS A REASON FOR YOUR CLAIM? HOW MIGHT/WILL YOU PROVE IT? (IN OTHER WORDS, WHAT EVIDENCE WILL YOU INCLUDE?”)

KORNAS:  Disputable Topics/Arguable Claims. Rewrite your claim...make it strong
