ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Spirit Week concludes tomorrow with Blue & Gold (Clarkston Spirit) Day.
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences take place next week.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Kornas Switch 1 and 2: Jeopardy review game.
HOMEWORK:  STUDY AND PREPARE FOR CHAPTER 1 TEST TOMORROW.

Barber: Wrap up chapter 1.5 and discussion questions.  Review what needs to be studied for Chapter 1 test.  
* HOMEWORK: STUDY NOTES and CHAPTER 1 VOCABULARY.

READING WORKSHOP
Barber:  3 stop-and-jots and 1 extended response. Formal reading assessments continue all week.

Brazier: Independent reading + Individual reading assessments
* ASK: “Are you able to “get lost” in the world of your text easily? Or are you often distracted during independent reading time? If you’re distracted, what do you do about it?”

Kornas: “Readers learn to make inferences.”

Martinez: 3 stop-and-jots and 1 extended response.  Thinking about thoughtful entries. Formal reading assessments continue all week.

WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber: “Writers use paragraphs.”

Brazier: Writing Celebration!
* ASK: “What do you do especially well as a writer? Can you give me an example of that?”

Kornas: “Writers create a rubric to evaluate their writing.”

Martinez: “Writers make a plan for how they will publish.”

* HOMEWORK: FINAL DRAFT FOR LAUNCHING UNIT POSTPONED TO TUESDAY. STUDENTS NEED TO COME PREPARED TOMORROW KNOWING HOW THEY PLAN ON PUBLISHING.  WILL THEY USE GOOGLE DRIVE?  MICROSOFT WORD?  HANDWRITE?
