SOCIAL STUDIES
Barber: Assign sections for students to teach.  Students determine the cause and effect relationship between Britain on the colonists.

Kornas: Group of 3-4 students work together to become experts on one section in Chapter 10. Students determine the cause and effect relationship between Great Britain (the mom) and the colonists (the child).
ASK:  Why is Mrs. Kornas referring to Great Britain as the mom and the Colonists as the child?

READING WORKSHOP
Barber:  “Readers add evidence to support their thinking.” Book Club meetings.

Brazier: Independent Reading. Written Response to Reading. Individual Reading Assessments.

Kornas: Book club book reading for 30 minutes. Independent reading of “Just Right” books.

Martinez: “Readers learn more about the characters and/or setting when they pay close attention to descriptive passages.”


WRITING WORKSHOP

*HOMEWORK DUE THURSDAY: LIST YOUR OPINION, 3 REASONS AND EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT EACH REASON.

Brazier: “Opinion writers use research to strengthen their writing.”
* SUGGESTED HOMEWORK 1: AFTER READING THROUGH MR. B & MS. P’S COMMENTS, SPEND ~15 MINUTES TWEAKING YOUR STUDENT-LED CONFERENCE PRESENTATION

* SUGGESTED HOMEWORK 2: SPEND ~15 MINUTES READING THROUGH YOUR GATHERED RESEARCH TO FIND A NEW QUOTE OR NEW STATS. AS YOU DO IN CLASS, DECIDE WITH WHAT REASON YOUR NEWFOUND EVIDENCE BEST FITS.
