ANNOUNCEMENTS
Student-led conferences will be held March 16th and 18th.
SPELLING
Barber: Suffix rules -tion & -ment:  Include 5 words from last tests of suffix words.
Words: encouragement, department, enjoyment, corruption, function.
*TEST THURSDAY.

Brazier:
* PERSONALIZED SPELLING TEST ON FRIDAY (LISTS 3, 6, and 9)

Kornas:  New spelling list created today in class.
* HOMEWORK: SPELLING SENTENCES DUE TOMORROW. PARENTS NEED TO INITIAL STUDENT WORK AFTER CHECKING IF SENTENCES ARE WELL-THOUGHT OUT, CHECK FOR PROPER CAPITALIZATION, PUNCTUATION, AND SPELLING.
* PERSONALIZED SPELLING TEST ON FRIDAY.

Martinez:
*SPELLING TEST ON FRIDAY.  STUDY LISTS 4 AND 9 (scissors, committee, separate, definitely, physical)


MATH

Brazier - Switch One: Polygon Angles: Discovering the relationship between the number of sides of a polygon and the sum of the angles.  
* HOMEWORK: WEEKLY REVIEW. DUE WEDNESDAY.
* ASK: “What does it mean to triangulate a polygon? Show me how to triangulate a pentagon in more than one way.”

Brazier - Switch Two: Strand 5 Pre-test.

Kornas: Sections 8.3 & 8.4. Read and take notes on organizer. Quiz tomorrow over Dilemma #1.
* HOMEWORK: STUDY FOR DILEMMA #1 TEST TOMORROW.

READING WORKSHOP
Barber: “Readers use timelines to help with the order of the story and back story.”

Brazier: “Readers are alert to changes in their text.”
* ASK: “Through what ‘lens’ did you read today?”

Kornas: “Book clubs use tools to help grow conversation.”

Martinez: “Book clubs use tools to help them stay organized.”

WRITING WORKSHOP

Barber: “Writers find evidence to prove their reasons.”  

Brazier: “Opinion writers evaluate the relative strengths of the reasons for their opinion.”

Kornas:  “Writers brainstorm opinion ideas to help them find topics they are passionate about.”
* HOMEWORK: THREE MORE TOPICS FOR OUR BRAINSTORMING LIST.

Martinez: “Writers explore their opinions.”
* HOMEWORK: FINISH YOUR GOALS FOR YOUR STUDENT-LED CONFERENCE.
